I want to be a host!!!  What's the criteria?

how does the host home make a difference ?

What is the host home program?

When it comes to meeting the basic needs, the CYO Host Home Program is an effective response to youth and young adult homelessness.  But for the young people who participate, a genuine connection to adult allies who share  their homes and lives is also a powerful way to foster hope, healing, self-determination, leadership and change. Ultimately, this program is about empowering a community to take care of its youth.

The CYO Host Home Program is an "outside-the-system" community and volunteer-based response to youth homelessness.  It is a transformative approach to providing housing and support to youth and young adults, while also building community and sharing resources.  The program recruits, trains and supports volunteer hosts who then open their homes to youth experiencing homelessness.  Youth participants receive support from their hosts and youth advocates while living in host homes. Volunteers commit to hosting for a year, with the understanding that it could be a shorter or longer period.
